HAWKESBURY CRUISES

Because every cruise is different

Military & Political History of the Lower Hawkesbury River

Adults $58 ~ Seniors/Concession/Group rate $48 ~ Children 4-14yrs $18

Minimum group size 20 adult passengers, maximum 180.

Sounds dry and dusty, doesn't it? This surprisingly popular cruise needs a minimum booking of 20 passengers to run, and includes morning tea and a delicious fish'n'chip lunch served on board.

The Lower Hawkesbury River has had a huge role to play in the military and political history of Australia. This cruise will take you to the location of the thrashing out of our constitution on board the steamship Lucinda by the politicians of the day. We also see the training ground for the troops of Operation Jaywick, a World War II operation which saw our commando troops successfully infiltrate Singapore Harbour and blow up seven Japanese ships. We get close up and personal to the old and less old pylons of the Hawkesbury River train bridge, where you can still see the dynamite holes placed there just in case of attack in the 1940s. We get as close as possible to the wreck of the historic HMAS Parramatta, lying at the foot of spectacular sandstone cliffs, and you can hear how our first warship came to be there!
